Przewalski’s Skullcap

An elegant and uncommon perennial, Scutellaria przewalskii brings a show to the garden with it’s violet tipped, yellow scull cap flowers, over flat, ornamental foliage- The textured, toothed foliage and strong creeping habit, make it a show stopper in the rock garden and .crevice garden.

Much like the proverbial horse, it’s a wild and tough thing that won’t be tamed, but maybe will grant you some flowers for your effort.

Native Range:
Central China, typically found in mountain meadows and forest edges.

Hardiness:
USDA Zones 5–8. Cold-hardy and tolerant of a range of temperate conditions.

Cultivation:
Prefers full sun to part shade and moist, well-drained soils rich in organic matter. Thrives in borders, cottage gardens, or wildflower settings. Benefits from regular watering, especially in dry spells, but dislikes waterlogged conditions. Deadhead to encourage prolonged bloom. A good pollinator plant and deer-resistant.
